give praise to people that deserve it instead of people who can only talk and not do any work. so that the talented people actually stay

I have been working at Life Technologies as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Great workplace, very supportive employer, supportive manager and team. Learnt a lot. Very helpful people to get the job done. Felt like I was welcomed to one big family.

    Cons

Training was not comprehensive, some people are a bit negative about the company which makes you think the company doesn't care for its employees. Not sure whether this was a reflection of the company or the individuals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work

I worked at Life Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I worked in the Ion Torrent business. The technology was exciting and there were a lot of high quality people in the Ion business.

    Cons

Ended up with a sub-par manager. Some of the guys in the middle management are probably better off being individual contributors than people managers. My manager seemed to love to go off and do hands on work himself than focus on developing his employees. A director level guy in charge of transferring key technologies to worldwide suppliers barely understood best manufacturing or quality practices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the big paranoid egos out of the business.

    No opinion of CEO
