I have been working at Life Time Fitness full-time for less than a year

Pros

Good Company to work for if you are really into customer service and undesrtanding the demandng business type. Great support from Corporate Office to get thisngs done. Fun environment with a lot of pressure on performance - just like anywhere else - you need to deliver. After all, that is what the success is all about.

Cons

Over communicating - too many e-mails and conference calls. I rather focus on serving Memebrs and Team Members

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue the focus on customer service and branding the LTA brand as an excluisive brand with exceptional programs and people. Recognize Team Members who deserve it - focus on performers. Cut down on office/meeting time and get Club managers to be more visible for Members and suporting Team Members

I have been working at Life Time Fitness full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Exciting Environment
Growing and stable company with opportunities
Campared to other companies in this industry, ranks top with education and variety of programs

    Cons

Still run like a small company sometimes. Promotions and placement is not always based on performance.

The last minute requests and meetings often cause an off balance in work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set standards of positions in writing to create an even playing field to foster loyalty and respect.

I have been working at Life Time Fitness full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - The company truly wants to be on the cutting edge of providing top quality health care that focuses on the whole body
    - You get to improve countless lives for a living; it's incredibly rewarding
    - You get to meet a diverse and interesting group of people on a continuous business
    - Constant education is provided from the company on relevant topics (ie: dangers of high cortisol levels)
    - Opportunities for advancement/promotion occur on an acceptable timeline
    - Mentoring by senior staff is available on a regular basis
    - Free gym membership is a nice perk

    Cons

    - Your paycheck is never guaranteed; it's a monthly stress to hit goals and budgets
    - The paycheck structure is confusing; too many variables affect it
    - Some menial work is required, no matter the level of position/authority
    - Hours can be long
    - Environment can be focused on individual achievement instead of team
    - Gossip is prevalent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Hold out for quality staff. Just because a position is open doesn't mean it needs to be filled quickly. One bad seed can spoil the bunch.
    - Streamline communication
    - Stop changing the mission/vision statement. Set the course and then steer the ship straight.
    - Hold staff accountable for poor work. Don't speak of what should be done and then allow shoddy work to continue; worse yet, don't promote/lateral-move people who don't perform up to standards. That kills morale.
