I worked at Life Time Fitness

    Pros

Work is easy, company is successful, free gym membership with any position so that is about a 50 dollar value

    Cons

The work is boring, repetitive, and really provides no incentive to do the job well as the reward structure is based solely on minimum wage pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a better method of employee feedback and motivation, and vary the zone rotations so that employees are not doing the same work every day

personal trainer or salesman or janitor?

I worked at Life Time Fitness

    Pros

free membership at a very nice club
    you get to wear shorts
get to work with like minded people
    you learn something new everyday
satisfaction in knowing your job is helping people feel good about themselves

    Cons

You are a salesman first and a personal trainer second. If management is behind in sales you will be pushed to sell stuff that clients do not want or need which often times leads to uncomfortable situations.

Lifetime is too cheap to outsource it's cleaning so expect to be a celebrated janitor when you have any down time.

Managers are constantly trying to reinvent the wheel to jusify their existence, so expect to have meetings where nothing is said and asked to do things that make no sense.

You also have managers who have their jobs solely because they have a college degree in sports science but have no background in business or management... Just because you know how to properly do a push-up doesn't mean you are capable of handling a HR dispute.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leave the training to your clients and focus your time on everything else.
Delegate less time to meetings and cleaning and more time on driving members to your trainers.
