I worked at Lifetouch

Pros

get to travel every day, contantly meet new people, every season there is a new set up to learn so it doesn't get boring

Cons

there's not much education in actually "being a photographer" they teach you how to do the job- no more, no less

Advice to ManagementAdvice

develop more inclusive and comprehensive training program for photographers. more knowledge of the job makes for better photos, which in turn creates more sales

I have been working at Lifetouch

    Pros

    Some nice people
    Some nice kids

    Cons

    Very physicaly demanding
    Little pay
milage reimburment is a joke. It does not cover the wear and tear on your vehicle for driving so many miles each day.
They expect you to work miracles with little time alloted for each child

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to the photographers that are really out in the field. Better yet, get out there and experience it yourselves. You might get a wake up call!

    I worked at Lifetouch

    Pros

    - Thanks to their partnership with JCPenney, you get a 20% associate discount at their stores. Yup, that's about it.

    Cons

    - The ESOP is your only retirement option there, and it is very apparent this company won't be around when it comes time to cash out.
    - No strategy
    - Extremely poor/non-existent leadership at the CEO level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize the dire situation Lifetouch is in and make the real necessary changes. So far workforce reductions and rapid strategy changes still assume that people want the product Lifetouch sells. (which they increasingly don't, and very soon won't need) Just as there are no companies making typewriters anymore, there won't be any need for companies selling $50 8x10 photo packages.
