I worked at Limelight Networks full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Some good people, not overly tight on expenses and travel, Tempe location and offices are great. Company is well positioned with what should be a weak major competitor.

Cons

Cronyism - senior executives take care of themselves with very little concern for others. Management is always being distracted by some shiny light and fails to address problems with the core business.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix the core business - you've got a well architectured network that can be a competitive threat to AKAM if you execute. Not sure if you really know what you are getting into in the SaaS business.

I have been working at Limelight Networks

    Pros

Ability to decide your own schedule
Free food in the Limelight Deli
Freedom to work on what interests you
Fellow employees are highly motivated and talented

    Cons

Too many things are still done by manual processes. Things that should take minutes often take hours or days because it is all done by hand.
Career paths are not well defined.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better define career paths. It would be good for all new engineer/development staff to work with NOC/Operations Engineering for several weeks to get a good understanding of the entire network.

I worked at Limelight Networks full-time

    Pros

    - Some decent people
    - Some products are good (via acquisition)
    - Fun co-workers

    Cons

    - Management (up to the top) are not trustworthy. Lots of people believe they've been lied too (especially around commissions)
    - Can't keep good people around. Bought some good companies, but the people all leave as soon as they are able to.
    - Most of the products are terrible. Customers unhappy.
    - Stock is going into the toilet.
    - Poor leadership. They pay themselves well, but overall pay is terrible.
    - Company just can't execute
    - People are burnt out. Folks are worked hard, then discarded.
    - Some talented people, buts lots of 'B' and 'C' players.
    - Problems are well known inside the company, but nothing ever changes or improves.
