I have been working at Lincoln Memorial University

Pros

It's a beautiful location. The faculty and staff are very friendly. Everyone is seen as being part of a family. There are many opportunities for professional development. New employees are frequently asked how they are doing to make sure that they are adapting to the new job well.

Cons

It's in a rural location. There isn't much to do in the community.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are doing a great job in treating employees with respect and providing them with recognition. It would be nice for announcements about new programs and plans for new buildings to be announced as they occur.

I have been working at Lincoln Memorial University

    Pros

Friendly community, quiet, beautiful campus, faculty members are mostly caring, dedicated, and compassionate, there's a happy and proud student community, school has a charming history, the school welcomes a diverse student and faculty population.

    Cons

Campus and community are a cultural dead zone. There isn't even a student newspaper. Little if any opportunity for staff professional advancement. Technology and infrastructure are abysmal; frequent outages of EVERYTHING from email service to heat and water. Some facilities and buildings glitter while others are decrepit. High turnover of administrative positions; many less-competent hangers-on. Decisionmaking incredibly slow moving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you continue to offer humanities, give those students and staff a fraction of the investment of resources that you give to your medical, business, and pre-professional programs. Be more receptive to suggestions from mid-level staff and instructors. Management style is way too much top-down.
