Pros

- Opportunity to work with diverse populations of people and on interesting projects. - Big company with good health benefits. - Great coworkers. - Learning environment.

Cons

- High school politics, if you don't know the in-crowd you can't play the game. - No formal management training. - Shady compensation policy, esp in the Fall/Winter months. - Overt favoritism of Learning Center department employees (income stream). - Too much expected from employees for too little reward

Advice to Management

- Create financial incentives that support the Corporate departments, not just the Learning Centers... you couldn't do what you do without their backstage support.

  1. Very rewarding, but the stress level outweighs the low pay rate

I have been working at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes (Less than a year)

    Pros

The environment is fast-paced and requires continual engagement with the students. It is gratifying to see students dramatically improve their reading or comprehension skills as they work through the learning process taught by LB.

    Cons

The work schedule can be erratic and may change throughout the day. There is no flexibility because the clinician is constantly assigned to one-on-one sessions with the students throughout the day.

    Advice to Management

The hourly rate charged for each learning session is incredibly high, yet the clinicians being hired to do the work are only being a paid a tiny fraction of that amount.

  2. Good work experience

    Pros

Working with the kids is fun. The program really works.

    Cons

The pay is low. As an experienced and credentialed teacher, I still only made $15/hour and it was cut to $13.50/hour when the economy was doing poorly. Parents pay $2,000 a week to send their kids there so as a teacher you only get a tiny amount of what is being paid.

    Advice to Management

    Pay more.
