Pros

Lionsgate is a good place to start and learn the business. You get hands on experience with many facets of the business. Depending on department, you can modify your work hours and you can work from home if you're trusted by your supervisor. You can make good connections for your career. It looks good on your resume.

Cons

Upper management has no respect for people under them. Pay is really lousy and by now about 50% below what everybody pays. Promotions and advancement is based on who you know and not how you work. The whole management of the company is complete chaos to hide people with VP titles that produce absolutely nothing. Nepotism is live and well here. Positions that become vacant are not replaced and instead the work load is distributed among people in the same department or to other departments. HR is completely inefficient and enlarges only their own department. People usually move on to other studios after 2 years.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean your house of all the "dead wood" in your organization and maybe your stock will gain some power. Hire a consulting company and FOLLOW their recommendations. Hire competent managers who know how to lead and not your friends or the friends of your cousin's dog walker.

    Pros

Lionsgate is a casual environment and does help you gain knowledge and skills about your department and industry. Pay is okay and benefits are also subpar.

    Cons

Besides the pay and benefits the only other downside I can think of is interdepartment relations. you dont get to interact with other vp's that often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more outings with current employees and also raise pay. The work environement is alright but would be even better with more sufficient benefits

Depends on who you work for but in general - there are other studios where assts are more valued

    Pros

Small company making big movies - lots of advantage to have an impact if you work in Prod, Dev, or Acquisitions

    Cons

Depends on who you work for but assistants are expected to go above and beyond what they are compensated to do and not promoted accordingly via title change or financial incentive

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate Assistants at a level consistent with what other studios pay their employees - LG has a reputation for paying 15-20% below the rest of the industry which is unfortunate.
