Live Nation – “Live Nation, an incredible company with exceptional minds”
2 of 2 people found this helpfulPros
Live Nation is a young company that attracts both the brightest from academia and the most experienced business leaders in the music industry. I've never experienced a company more passionate and results-driven than this one, and I've spent 8+ years across many industries including banking, real estate, law, and tech. Every day I feel humbled by the experience of others on my team and have great respect for the leaders of this organization.
Cons
Unless you are the most experienced business leader in the music industry, it is unlikely that your career will be on the same fast track as these stars. The upside is also the downside of working at Live Nation; that is, the flat organization gives you better access to very senior leaders of the company, however, there is little incentive or time that senior executives have to cultivate and grow individuals on their teams. The highly competitive environment at Live Nation can, at times, result in superficial team engagement.
As a side note, women and minorities are not well-represented at the senior executive level.
Advice to Senior Management
Consider expending more effort to communicate to your team members and treating subordinates with respect.
Senior Management is doing an incredible job given the pressures and stress associated with their roles. In time, I would like to see improvements in the areas specified above.

Unfortunately, I've learned the hard way that the very senior executives at Live Nation have ZERO interest in retaining talent and has said as much through their actions by eliminating the 401k match, keeping salaries fixed year-over-year, proudly stating that annual reviews are just not done here, restricting bonuses to a few key C-level execs, and leaders purposefully dodging career development questions. I have never been more disappointed by the leadership of any organization than here at Live Nation.
I advise prospective job seekers to pass on LN Corporate--it is not worth the heartache, abuse, and frustration. There is just simply no recognition, reward or opportunity for advancement. Promotions are not based on merit but rather haphazard chance. I have not even begun to scratch the surface of the discontentment across the organization and it is growing by the day. It really pains me to see such great talent wrangled in and left to waste--all because these executives truly think that there is an unlimited supply of stellar talent just waiting at the LN doorstep clamoring to get in.
