I have been working at LivingSocial full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Great Product. Great Staff. Great subscribers.

Cons

Top level people are clueless. Too many changes. Bad Q3 incentive plan. Goals are still out of whack for some. Target marketing cannot be applied in this industry

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you have to change something every quarter you didn't higher the right person to make that decision in the first place. Making changes is fine but when you do it commit to it. DQP still needs to go. Let employees make you money. Stop preventing this from happening. Inside sales needs to go. They don't make you any money.

I worked at LivingSocial full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible working options, high degree of autonomy, lower- and middle-management very receptive and helpful. Definite sense of camaraderie as everyone in a given department works together toward the same goal.

    Cons

Upper management is opaque and seems rife with tension. Board-level executives put so much spin on their messages that it's impossible to take anything at face value. Poor vision, and inter-departmental relationships are dysfunctional. A month doesn't go by without the company embarrassing itself very badly, and all its employees by association.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you don't tell us what's really, honestly, truly going on, we'll assume the worst... and the way we're operating, the worst would be pretty bad.

Senior leadership (or lack of) is the blame for LS demise

I worked at LivingSocial full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great money if you did well, lots of talented sales people, great benefits

    Cons

Senior leaders are terrible, no communication from the top down, senior level people have no clue what is really going on, terrible sales managers (except for a select few)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to your surroundings. This company had potential but management and senior leaders were so unaware of what was going on from day to day. There was constant miscommunication and sales managers have really no control over their teams and are basically there to report numbers. It's sad to see the company collapsing because there are a lot of talented sales people and employees who will be the ones most affected by LS downfall.
