Former Contractor - Lead Enterprise Architect in London, England (UK)
Former Contractor - Lead Enterprise Architect in London, England (UK)

I worked at Lloyds Banking Group as a contractor (more than 3 years)

Pros

Really good bunch of people, trying their hardest in a difficult environment
The flexible working practices were great, as was the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects

Cons

Morale of staff is at rock bottom, the employee review process is flawed, in a team someone has to get a bad mark, but what if the whole team are brilliant??? The increasing use off off-shore resource is hugely depressing too, they are difficult to work with, and produce poor quality work, there are a few exceptions.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop offshoring, review process needs work

I have been working at Lloyds Banking Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Have improved by knowledge of IT and Finance and have learnt to deal with multiple stakeholders at all levels

    Cons

Far too bogged down in red tape, too many people in the decision making process, lack of visible leadership, too many people not living up to their capabilities, finance systems a joke, performance management a tick box exercise rather than helping to drive development, the bell curve distribution is very evident (ie some people have to be rated low)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring in fresh blood, force the decisions through more quickly, make decisions more timely

I worked at Lloyds Banking Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Salary, holidays and rewards
Training available easily for all roles both in and out of work
Opportunities to develop your skills to move into new roles within the business
Company maintains a good relationship with Unions

    Cons

Job security though no different than other organisations
Pressure to produce above expectations though minimal reward or recognition
Performance management process is in place, though individual ratings are adjusted to suit the business meeting their standards

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Plan and prepare business area for restructures to follow new operating models
