Pros

You can get an employee 10% discount card after working for five or six month which is pretty good if you usually go shopping in Superstore.

Cons

Now they seems are only hiring for part time positions therefore they want you have a good availability while can only give you 24-28 hours per week. Then it is hard to find some other jobs to fit in the schedule.

Advice to Management

The selection of department managers should be more careful

  1. Love the actual duties of the job but the cons overpower the good leaving a bitter taste behind.

I have been working at Loblaw

    Pros

Great place if you work multiple jobs, they will work around your schedule.

    Cons

Hours are very limited to part time employees. If you are one of the low men on the totem pole expect to fight for your hours, this place is unionized by the UFCW. Don't expect to get more than 16 hrs max per week. Raises, benefits etc are based on the number of hours you have actually worked so don't expect to get anywhere quickly. The environment is very good at destroying your confidence.

    Advice to Management

People need to be able to survive off their paycheck. When our income for the month is less than what a welfare receipiant receives, there is something wrong.

  2. Great for new graduates, nice work facilities and benefits

I have been working at Loblaw

    Pros

    - Very good for new grads seeking experience
    - Lots of training modules and courses provided (for free) by company
    - Workplace facility is nice (gym, b-ball/vball courts, large atrium)

    Cons

    - Sometimes feels like your voice/opinion is not heard due to large size of company
    - "Silo" effect felt across departments at times

    Advice to Management

More inter-departmental communication would greatly benefit workers to let them know how their work affects others.
