Unprofessional and political with products that are second rate and customers that are worse

I have been working at LocalEdge full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It's a job with all the benefits you can afford to pay for.
    There is free coffee
    There is a bathroom
Most of your fellow sales reps are great to work with
    Paid training

    Cons

Most of the products are half baked and poorly supported. Customers are the bottom of the barrel. Company has a poor reputation as a yellow page publisher in the area and customer are aware of their poor customer service. Local management is terrible, well on in particular was the worst i have encountered and the other was one of the best, and both micro manage to a T. You are not permitted to leave the office as a sales person to do what you do best, you must use the phone to set all appointments. It's a their way or the highway. Don't even think of any fresh ideas - keep those to yourself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the nepotism and hierarchy style leadership and get someone at the top who can lead the company away from a yellow page mentality that follows it. You will need to create a new product, and not just simply rely on vendor reselling.

I worked at LocalEdge full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Definitely a place where you are challenged. The people who work there in the office (Raleigh) are mostly great people, very warm and encouraging. Turnover was ridiculous. I was there for 6 months and only had a manager for a month of that time.

    Cons

Completely unrealistic goals. Overpriced products that don't really do what they say they will. Maybe it's changed since I've been there, but at the time I knew too much about the difference between what they should have done and what they actually did to justify selling to a small business owner and charging him for his hard-earned money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create products that actually work and a compensation plan that is attainable for the mass of salespeople, not just the top few.
