I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time

Pros

Several strong products and excellent program leadership. Intelligent engineering.

Cons

Although improving the Union membership has a long way to go to get a competitive mindset.
Manufacturing leadership needs to improve their game.
Diversity gone bad.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

On the manufacturing side they need to lead, follow, or get out of the way.
Overall, pretty unfair the way last year the Directors and VP's got nice cash bridges to retirement, while this year it's just find a job in 30 days if you can for the rest of us. Nice. There is some sharing of the wealth with your most valuable resources! Guess not. Bonuses tied to achieving goals would be beneficial for your motivated employees.

Started well, but I would not suggest this place for people who enjoy working in teams without having to watch your back

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

When you have a good team & good leadership, it is a great place to work. When the supervisors and team leaders are taking care of their people while getting the job done, goals are accomplished and customers are happy.
    Looks good on a resume!

    Cons

There are a number of people who are very political. Certain people will work to get rid of you if they see you as competition. Long work hours and long rambling meetings reduce the effectiveness of teams

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward good politics (helping others regardless of their power to help you)
Remove bad politics (only helping those who have the power to help you)
Do not discount the disabled veterans.
Be very careful of who you layoff it may be a hard working vet.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great training, benefits, retirement and learn how to use a lot of different computer systems. Also, cool environment to work in if you like defense/aeronautics.

    Cons

Have to wait a long time (three years atleast) to get promoted, pretty much just follow directions and run reports, not much autonomy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the younger employees as they will be your future - try to decrease turnover.
