I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Networking, Many employees appreciate Mission

Cons

MICROMANAGMENT!!, Retirement transition area for other business areas that have closed, managers do not inforce any policy or standard.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote internally. There is a vast pool of talent within your organization but you continually outsource to other operational areas. People at this location value bonuses....why did you take them away?

    Pros

Previous to this latest LM Commit performance review debacle, I enjoyed being a major contributor to what used to be a good place to work.

    Cons

After busting my hump and getting promotions and glowing reviews over my 12+ year tenure at LM, this new LM Commit performance review thing has soured me on the job and the company. What freaking moron sanctioned this, which moron developed it, and then what idiot approved its implementation? I really want to know those peoples' names. They'll be important in the class-action suit that will surely come.

    Pros

If you are "one of the boys" you should do well.
You get to work on pretty neat things.
Salaries are OK, not super competitive--you are compared to your peers within your rank, most times this works out OK.

    Cons

You will be passed over for promotion if you are not one of the "good old boys".
There are lots of actively operating quid pro quo relationships.
People are rewarded for kissing up and personal relationships.
They do not have a reliable HR that cares about what is reported to them--they often turn the other cheek.
Mid-level management runs that place, regardless of what the upper level management thinks or what their mission statements are.
Mid-level management routinely encourages unethical practices, esp wrt charging time to government contracts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up and realize what is happening to your organization.
Give HR the power to actually make effective changes and remove high-profile people that are actively engaging in unethical behavior.
Listen to the people that have the courage to come forward with questions and concerns.
