Pros

I was retained by management through two layoffs by being transferred to other jobs. This was due to good performance. This was a union shop and I was low on seniority, so this was a huge deal. Great management.

Cons

There are no performance based incentives because of the union environment. The union is adamant that everyone receive the same raises, regardless of performance. This may be a good for some people...

    Pros

They offer a competitive benefits package and focuses on "valued employee" and "high ethics" standards as key components to company success. They offer comparable and competitive market salaries at all levels of the coporate structure.

    Cons

This is not necessaily a "CON" but a majority of its business is contract-based. With that being said, Lockheed Martin has an excellent track record of retaining employees who successfully complete previous contracts.

    Advice to Management

A re-invigorated campaign in educating leaders in contracted positions of the importance in promotion of advancement opportunities.

    Pros

Good Rotational programs for recent graduates
Relatively easy to move between locations
Good vacation and other paid leave
I felt my pay was good compared to what I could get from other companies in the area

    Cons

Defense industry can be more volatile than you might expect
Defense industry going into downward cycle due to budget crisis

    Advice to Management

We talk about doing more commercial work, but need more leadership to make the changes needed to be a player
