Pros

One of the best reasons to work at LM is due to the ethics policies the employees uphold. The corporate environment of all-inclusiveness and diversity is apparent in the productivity and self-motivation of the employees I've had the privilege to know during my tenure there.

Cons

There is a lack of presence in north-western states like Illinois (particularly in Chicago). As an internationally-known government contractor, LM does not seem to offer locality a broad portfolio of states or large cities having a wealth of talented, skilled, highly educated workforce.

Advice to Management

Consideration to open offices (not small satellite) in large cities like Chicago, would increase corporate exposure and public awareness of the company existence in industries that provide services to agencies like the US postal service and local (city) transportation.

    Pros

Excellent benefits, employees come from a number of disciplines and industries. Company pays attention and cares about improving safety record and complying with environmental standards.

    Cons

Government bureaucracy gets in the way of modernizing systems (i.e. using excel as opposed to databasing). Information sharing not practiced amongst many of the older employees (wanting to keep their jobs, I suppose!!!).

    Advice to Management

Look toward the younger, incoming employees... the new talent has some great suggestions for improving the current systems in place at Lockheed!

  2. pretty good for a 'large' company

    Pros

there is lots of room for advancement in the company, as there's lots of turnover and 're-orgs' constantly. for the most part, the people who work there are nice and mostly get along

    Cons

unless you're a top performer, the pay can be lower than industry averages. they stick to corporate policies to determine salary instead of looking at employees individually. teams are segregated, and do not work well together all of the time (lots of finger pointing back and forth)
