I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Good environment to work. Professionals at all levels. Benefits are competitive and generally it is a good place to be. Good long term place to be with a decent retirement. Average with the current benefits.

Cons

Not competitive. Poorly organized. Not cost effective. Good at huge programs but not flexible enough to compete in the new environment of smaller budgets and shifting requirements.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the big changes that you need to compete. What got you here won't get you any further. Major changes need to happen.

Made a lot of money and worked unlimited hours, but was locked up in a cubicle for most of the year.

I worked at Lockheed Martin as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Pay is great and they didn't seem to have an issue with me racking up hours throughout each project.

    Cons

This place will work you to death if you let them. And the workplace environment is quite depressing. Locked up in a cubicle all day. Workdays usually lasted beyond the traditional 8 hours a day. Worked with a lead editor that was not fit to be leading in anything. He was quite unprofessional in his demeanor and displayed passive aggressive attitude throughout the time that I worked with him.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps, the mgmt should focus on who is logging hours and how many hours are being logged. They allowed people to work overnight on projects and one of my projects was erased in the final hours before proposal submittal by a person that had been allowed to work over 24 hours straight.

The dusty corner of software development

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Occasionally working with cutting edge hardware. Autonomy to do the work you need to get done. Travel to unique places

    Cons

Suffocating process, extremely dated corporate culture. Projects drag on for years. Software is often blamed for cost overruns Most things you work on are extremely old (C / ADA). Most people have a pension and are just trying to not get laid off before they hit their magic years of service. Huge compensation rift between pensioners and non-pensioners.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold yourselves accountable for failures. Despite multiple failures the same people continue to climb the ladder
