The first 15 years they were people oriented but slowly degraded as they reduced employee incentives over next 15 years

I worked at Lockheed Martin

Pros

Excellent products, employees and customers to work with. Opportunity to advance education and experience.

Cons

Reduced retirement and benefits give new employee no incentive to excel,

Advice to Management

Would be nice to have someone recognize a person's 30 plus years service in some way before laying them off, maybe a simple thank you would do.

    Pros

Solid work load, some very bright people are at Lockheed. Also, people were very friendly and willing to help.

Seemed to have very good work/life balance, lots of families and there did not appear to be many issues with that.

    Cons

Sonar isn't the most interesting thing in the world, and some of the practices used at Lockheed are very antiquated.

Seemed a bit disorganized for interns, not always something to do, and needed to actively seek out work.

    Advice to Management

Don't just have the motto you're seeking top level talent, actively go out and get it. People coming out of school aren't going to be wow'ed by a defense contractor with all the options that are out there, so paying more as a base would certainly help persuade.
