Pros

Off-Fridays (work a 9/80 shift, nine hours M-Th and 8 hours every other F). Good holidays in December. Decent benefits. Large company, so you can move around to various areas pretty easily.

Cons

Hugely political if you want to advance -- hope you are in the TCU club. Compensation is not on par for some jobs, though they do pay overtime (for some people). Your boss has no accountability in performance reviews, so you can get a bad review if you are on his/her bad side.

Approves of CEO

    Pros

Good benefits, decent hours if not forced to work unpaid overtime. Good people at the working level.

    Cons

Senior Management that is trying to hold on to past glories in a defense industry turned upside down by falling defense spending. Management will not do whatever it takes to win business. Always afraid of shareholder reaction if profits fall below expectations. Would rather give up business than work on contracts that keep people employed but with lower profits. Highly bureaucratic and top heavy, with commensurate high overhead costs compared to competitors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Explain the current defense contracting climate to shareholders and push the need to pursue lower return opportunities to stay engaged with customers and not lose market share during this difficult period. It's the companies that stick with the government when times are tough that will be rewarded when things get better.
