I have been working at Lockheed Martin

Pros

Lockheed Martin provides an avenue for career growth. Regardless of your current career level, there is an area that would fit. Because of many different connections to government, you have the potential to work with various agencies and even become a federal employee if that is your desire.

Cons

The pro and con is somewhat of the same. Because you are working with the government, there is much stress that comes along with project deadlines, pace and even completion of projects.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should take a long look at the type of projects that are requested and accepted. Many employees are concerned about the communication between LM and government entities.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin

    Pros

    Competitive pay + benefits
9/80 Work schedule (9 hours a day, every other Friday off)
    401K contribution matching
Vacation time rolls over (but capped)
Tuition reimbursement, however I have issues (see cons below)
    Job security (no outsourcing)
Great work/life balance. Employees are encouraged to take their vacation time.

    Cons

Promotion / Advancement heavily biased towards seniority vs merit-based.
    Political infighting between groups.
Company maintains dead weight employees and shuffles them around instead of laying them off.
Bureaucracy and red tape create a slow-moving work environment.
Tuition reimbursement only towards a degree program. Why no option to take 1 or 2 classes for professional enrichment?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Revise tuition reimbursement policy.
Recognize and reward star employees regardless of age and seniority.
Consider a solution for dead weight employees.
