I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Opportunities to work on some really interesting projects, decent benefits package

Cons

interesting projects are potentially far and few between. IRAD isn't what it used to be. Pay is well below market average

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can't rest on your 20+ year employees, find a way to keep your 0-5 from leaving the company, they are your main talent pool, and you're not listening to them.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Big company. Decent benefits. Local management will look out for you as best they can. Most people are friendly. Networking opportunities if you're in to that.

    Cons

Its government contracting. Basically contracts come and go. Lockheed bids on government contracts and either wins over or loses out to competition. Contracts usually last a few years. Budgets fluctuate, political situations and relationships crop up, etc. In ~4 years, I jumped between 8 different EPA programs in order to keep busy. The local office was in decline. Lay offs will happen. You must also keep track of all your time across all contracts which can get annoying and is subject to being audited internally as we as by government reps.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Push tech and leadership training. Especially on your younger hires.
