Pros

Worked with the a good team wrapping up the finance end of a program. The coworkers were professional, helpful and cared about your success. Fair compensation.

Cons

The largest issue for me was understanding the government system of recording costs, along with acronyms for everything. It was somewhat disorganized at first, but quickly improved.

    Pros

Lockheed Martin tries to maintain focus on what is important, overall program success. The company does a good job of decimating information down to the employees. The company has a good life work balance atmosphere. Paid time off is usually granted, unless there is a contract delivery impact. Career growth is very possible due to the large size of the company so long as you are willing to relocate, otherwise it becomes tougher.

    Cons

Over the past decade or so, benefits have been eroding . For instance, the out of pocket cost for medical has risen dramatically. Since the company works so closely with the federal government, they have a tendency to become bureaucratic unnecessarily. The company's loyalty to its employees will be sacrificed for the betterment of the company. The pay is on the low end of average end of the pay scale, Not bad enough to make you seriously want to leave, but not good enough to make you not consider leaving. Management focuses too much on yearly compliance training as a performance metric. I have seen employees get dinged on their performance evaluation because they were not timely in completing their training.

    Pros

The pay is reasonable at the lowest levels and crazy at the top levels
Generally speaking, you get paid for the time you put in, there is no endless hours for no additional pay like you get in small companies. Big Business offers you some job definitions and work limits which can be helpful.

    Cons

For the most part what ever you get hired in for (paywise)...thats what you get.
There are no merit raises that I have ever heard of.
A good review lets you keep your job and maybe get a 2-3% increase annually.
Union Folks are not judged in ANY way for their performance this hurts the good performers...and allows the hideous performers to stay as long as they don't mischarge or endager someone.

    Advice to Management

I know a lot of this is out of most Management's control...but seriously....reward the good achievers from the bottom to the top of the ranks... and somehow get rid of the ticks.
