Pros

Get to telework from home four days a week. Manager helps explain all the acronyms and settles down. Overall everyone was friendly.

Cons

Not enough work to do at times. Work was not terribly challenging. Team feels somewhat disconnected. No holiday or sick leave accumulation as an intern.

Advice to Management

Interns need more work to do!

    Pros

Lockheed Martin has to be the top defense contractor to work for in the country. They establish the baselines which all others follow from Capture Management, Program Management, Engineering practices, to the finance world. I will say the thing that most impressed me is the opportunitee to learn and be mentored by quality people. I would have never left had it not been for a family situation.

    Cons

At some of the customer sites, the working conditions are not ideal. The company also tends to be quite conservative on the business development side.

    Advice to Management

In order for LM to be competetive in the world market, the company rates need to come down. Due to pension payments and other overhead, rates are generally high depending on the company within LM. Continue to strive at bringing your rates down.

  2. Great place for college students to get experience, as long as you're in the right department

    Pros

Great pay, looks great on a resume, lots of responsibility and opportunities to prove your value, corporate environment culture, company promotes and hires from within. Groups of interns would often eat lunch or go out together outside of work.

    Cons

Highly dependent on your department, you may have lots of monotonous duties (many computer science and systems engineering). Lots of information is sensitive in nature but appropriate confidential/proprietary training is not always given.

    Advice to Management

Administer appropriate confidential/proprietary information training to those without secret clearances, at the beginning and during exit interviews.
