I have been working at Lockheed Martin

Pros

Individual responsiblity for large dollar contracts. The exposure to negotiation of a variety of items and services. Gain experience in all aspects of contract negotiation, including cost, quality, terms and conditions, FARs, schedule, etc.

Cons

Somewhat limited view of individual potential. LM still has the "serve your time" mentality before you can be promoted even if you are bringing cutting edge processes into the organization.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask your employees to identify areas where they can provide value to the company and then encourage and drive the opportunities to take advantage of these abilities.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin

    Pros

The salaries are phenomenal. It's the only way they get people to stay there, because they are all miserable otherwise.

    Cons

Not a very family oriented company. They favor ex-military, and if you work there, you can get your entire family in the door easily. Also, once you're hired your performance doesn't matter because they never fire. Because of that, those who are hard workers suffer. SI&T , Training and Technical Documentation, and Security (IT) are the worst departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Feedback will not be taken, as turnover in leadership never happens, and it's so political, no one ever gets fired.

    I worked at Lockheed Martin

    Pros

LM provides technically challenging work and has a lot of opportunity for an individual right out of college to begin a career.

    Cons

Each business area operates seperately with its own culture. Transfering between business areas can be a disappointing process for employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote based on technical and leadership skills. Ensure that exceptional employees do not get discarded during the frequent reduction in forces.
