I worked at Lockheed Martin

Pros

The company undertakes some of the biggest engineering challenges know to the world. They provide great resources to get these tasks done and are very helping for providing for continuing education. The salary is very good relative to competitors along with their benefits package.

Cons

The amount of security and bureaucratic within the company. The security is understandable since they are government contractors. Since the company is huge, some things take longer than should and something you get lost in the crowd.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel like the staff does a pretty good job running the company. Outside of trying to make things run a bit faster and stream line processes, i was happy with how things were run.

    I worked at Lockheed Martin

    Pros

It is a pretty stimulating environment with lots of bright people and interesting work. The company generally looks after its employees.

    Cons

The exception to "looking after its employees" would be, for example, the recent reduction in force, which makes it a tough place sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Though it's somewhat understandable, it being a very government-influenced company and a somewhat "militaristic" environment, sometimes the emphasis on common-sense issues like treating fellow workers with basic human decency and respect comes across as a bit patronizing.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin

    Pros

Individual responsiblity for large dollar contracts. The exposure to negotiation of a variety of items and services. Gain experience in all aspects of contract negotiation, including cost, quality, terms and conditions, FARs, schedule, etc.

    Cons

Somewhat limited view of individual potential. LM still has the "serve your time" mentality before you can be promoted even if you are bringing cutting edge processes into the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask your employees to identify areas where they can provide value to the company and then encourage and drive the opportunities to take advantage of these abilities.
