I have been working at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Interesting and meaningful projects. Many of the staff are very dedicated and experienced. Very flexible and results-oriented work culture. Facilitates exposure to world leaders in their fields. Excellent peer support, everybody is there to help.

    Cons

Little funding predictability for early career researchers. Little expertise in several key areas e.g. economics. Rhythm may be chaotic - working on many projects at the same time. Little interest in methodological work on global health economics and public health, somewhat more on statistical methods. The bulk of publishing goes to mid-low quality journals.
