I have been working at Lorillard

    Pros

The benefits are great and the pay is average versus competition, but benefits make up for a great deal of that. Company car, fuel, and maintenance are paid for by the company. Old-fashion company that keeps its eyes on being profitable more so than being number one for bragging rights. Flat out makes money and if they are making more than last year than job security is good.

    Cons

It’s a tobacco company; lots of people want to make villains of an industry that provides billions of tax dollars to keep these overspending states afloat. Can not say one bad thing about management from the bottom to the top

I have been working at Lorillard

    Pros

The company has been in business for 250 years and has shown profit and growth during its entire tenure. It is not the biggest, but it doesn't strive to be. It is a no nonsense company that does the best it can in a challenging industry. The requirements are challenging, but not overly excessive.

    Cons

The industry continues to shrink and this might limit mobility. However, the company does not "binge and purge," which means the company expansion is consistent with market conditions. The federal government will continue to have a larger role in this industry, but difficult to say how much and how that will affect employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company must remain nimble and able to take advantage of opportunities. This can best be accomplished by remaining lean and controlling costs.
