Huge learning experience

Subcontract Administrator (Current Employee) Los Alamos, NM

ProsLANL is a government facility so it offers a great learning landscape. It is located in a beautiful area. It is possible to eliminate commuting from your life here. Los Alamos is a small town with a very forward way of thinking. It offers stable employment for professionals.

ConsBecause it's government work, it is orchestrated by several different agencies so is very frustrating. From a Procurement point of view, the work is very cumbersome and overly detailed. Communication is difficult because the facility encompasses 22 square miles.

Advice to Senior ManagementBechtel needs to stop trying to think of this facility as a "Project". It isn't one. Management needs to stop doing risk avoidance and start doing risk assessment.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
