Pros

Interacting with and helping the students

Cons

The personnel system makes it difficult, almost impossible, to fire employees so the staff is heavy with employees that do almost nothing but collect a paycheck for breathing. Staff are rude to each other and to students. Many are allowed to collect a paycheck for doing nothing because it's easier than dealing with the grievances and unions. Some in management are overpaid...100K plus for doing little but attend meetings and travel to conferences.

Advice to Management

What management? Drummonds left under murker circumstances.

    Pros

friendly atmosphere. Beautiful campus, great to work with students, faculty and administration. all college campuses are being renovated and are LEED certified.

    Cons

the District uses the merit system to screen prospective classified employees. You have to take a test and then placed on a ranking list for possible job openings. If you are not invited for a job interview within a year. You have to reapply and take the test one more time.

    Advice to Management

Some managers are a bit strict to their employees, others are more relaxed. Also, some managers should recognize the talent they have on their staff.
