I have been working at Los Angeles USD full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

1) Great place to work with kids.
2) All benefits are taken care of.
3) My school culture was great when I taught there.

Cons

1) As title says, very difficult to get an answer sometimes.
2) Way too many offices. I'm not sure what all of them do.
3) A "us vs. district" mentality at school sites.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I really think LAUSD needs to just break up into smaller districts in order for students, teachers, and families to be better served.

Former Employee - Teacher in Los Angeles, CA

I worked at Los Angeles USD

    Pros

    o some good principals
o some dedicated teachers and other staff
o decent benefits, though they've been decreasing
0 can work minimum hours at many schools

    Cons

Unbelievable incompetence at many levels. Many administrators are petty and vengeful. It seems to be true that people progress to their level of incompetence here. Teachers are never allowed to just teach.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leave teachers alone and let them teach! Get rid of principals who are micro-managing bean counters. We need inspirational leaders, not people who measure the borders on bulletin boards.
