Pros

If you can find a good school to teach at which does not have alot of politics, it can be a nice job.

Cons

LAUSD is a huge bureaucracy where the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. At many schools there is poor discipline for students, because they have all right rights. The mind set is that it should be this way, because they deserve it, but in the end it hurts them and large numbers of students leave without a proper education.

Advice to Management

Focus on education and not on politics. Don't be afraid to set high standards for students.

    Pros

The benefits were great and thats about it.

    Cons

No respect given as employees or as a person. Treated as second class citizens.

    Advice to Management

Show a bit more empathy for the positions you built your career on.

    Pros

Relatively Easy, respectful job, decent work helping kids learn; not very strict, easy to get time off (unpaid) and relatively little stress

    Cons

Very low pay (compared to similar tutoring jobs which pay double what LAUSD does), zero benefits, terrible red tape to jump through to get hired, large fee for background check, work with idiots, terrible curriculum (CST is so stupid) etc. etc. etc.
