Neutral Outlook

I worked at Louisiana Public Health Institute as an intern (More than a year)

Pros

It looks great on a resume.

Cons

I didn't get much out of the internship. There were so many interns and not enough work. They also made it seem like it was our fault for not having work. I just wasn't a fan of this place.

Opportunities to lead and set your own course.

    Cons

I personally had some poor managers, but they're no longer with the company.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Louisiana Public Health Institute full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There wasn't that many public health organizations in the area that wasn't a health care and service facility. This organization was one of few available in New Orleans. So if New Orleans and public health are your requirements in jobs, then this place is one of your possibilities.

    Cons

The organization was run as if it's a family-owned business. There was too much office politic, drama, favoritism, and double standard. The growth in the organization was more likely be determined by how closed one was with the upper management, instead of based on one's capabilities and achievements.

    Advice to Management

It is important to make people feel like a family in the work place, but it doesn't mean that it needs to be run like a family business.
