Current Employee - Assistant Manager in Fargo, ND

I have been working at Love's Country Stores full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Employees are fun, always something to do....keeps you busy. Pay is decent, not the best and not the worst. Our location has a good GM that leads the team, so the environment is pleasant.

Cons

District Managers are very disconnected to managers outside of the GM, some District Managers can be very abusive towards Market Managers and Restaurant Managers, very unapproachable.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the out dated abusive management style and threatening approach. If you coach and show appreciation you will gain loyalty. Take time to speak with the entire team, you will learn much more about how the business runs when you are away.

I worked at Love's Country Stores full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Competitive salary, company discounts, co-workers were kind and compassionate as well as sincerely helpful in most cases

    Cons

The "family owned" company is very disconnected as to what their real problems are. For a company that states to incoming personnel that they have a minimal turnover rate they need to reassess that statement. Managers, good ones are NOT a dime a dozen and when not given proper tools they fail

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up to what is happening in your company. Hire and fire if they don't work out don't work.. Developing people with sound people skills and good work ethic are the keys to ultimate sucess.

    Pros

Great Pay, Insurance, and Advancement opportunities!

    Cons

Difficulty in finding great help. Some people just want a paycheck, not a job. The biggest thing i would say is that we never closed! Being a truckstop I understand...but being in management I was there EVERY holiday!
