It is a fun place to work with very little work drama.

I have been working at Lowe's

Pros

The people I work with are great. The company cares about its people and has almost monthly cookouts. They are usually fair in their dealings with employees and customers alike.

Cons

The policies need to be communicated and enforced with more regularity. Often there is a lack of communication from management down to head cashiers and cashiers. It is difficult to provide good customer service when policies are never enforced in the same manner.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The policies need to be communicated and enforced with more regularity including military discounts, dress code, breaks/lunches. Corporate needs to rewrite the return policy to be more stringent. I agree with most of the policies, they just need to be enforced.

Lowes is a very political, its who you know not what you know or accomplished.

    I worked at Lowe's

    Pros

Nice building and ammenities within building (ex...eateries, coffee shops)
Provide two laptops so roaming to perform duties is permissable

    Cons

Very political with little recognition for those truely performing.
Too lax within management thus unaware of high performers.
Lowes hires temporaries with the full intention of letting them go
instead of giving a benefits package, then rehiring for the same position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need more qualified management, those who provide feedback on performance.

I have been working at Lowe's

    Pros

    good pay
    good discount
    decent hours for retail
    good assistant/ store managers.....for now.

    Cons

The company seems like it is lost, the communication is not good.
the expectations of their new vision are unrealistic and will not happen and they know it.
Associates are so scared about the layoffs they don't act.
They are losing good people quickly, without caring.
When the economy picks up, they will lose alot of talent making it harder to work in the stores.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The culture is gone. I am not sure you can do anything at this point to change that. Mylowes is not the answer to your shortcomings. Wall street was right, old boys running it into the ground while watching the competition get better. Lowe's cannot execute. There are predicitions that the stock goes to $9 and they get bought out and go private, maybe thats what they need. Its time for the top to go....they have lost touch with what goes on in a store. What a shame, it was a great company and now they are really scrambling. It is sad to watch. They did well while it was easy, the ceo has no clue now that it is hard. Good luck to those who remain.
