I worked at Lowe's full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Good salaries (unless you are an Administrative Specialist or Merchandising Specialist in Training)

Cons

The company will move you around to whatever position they want you in, regardless of your preferences or what you went there for. Beginning in early 2012, the culture became one of instability and constant movement and change (not necessarily positive change, just change, like they are experimenting), with departments being shifted non stop from one group to another. My department was under 3 different VPs in one year. Everyone wonders if they will have a job tomorrow. It is very unsettling. Reorganization over and over and over and over.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

People actually do think about jobs before they apply for them, and they apply for the job they want. Putting them in another role, even though they might have the skills for it, is not going to make happy employees.

Great place to shop at, not the best to work at.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Easy job. Discount on products and special pricing on certain items.

    Cons

It is retail, anyone can do this job. It is hard to stand out. Management doesn't care about employees, but rather the bottom line. Commission was cut out in February of 2012, which cut most appliance sales specialist salaries by $7,000-15,000. Unless you get into management, most companies wont give much value for your experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work in a store department for one day, without management responsibilities and it will open your eyes about what associates deal with everyday. Do not be afraid to get your hands dirty as a manager, employees will respect you much more.
