    Pros

Decent benefits, large company with a good reputation; company discount on products; opportunity to learn about products you might want to use in your own home.

    Cons

Not much hands on training, most was online. Even if you aren't a cashier, about 2-3 times a year, they pull you from your regular duties and put you on the register. Not much support while your up there either. Very little opportunity for any kind of decent raise - max is usually $.25 per hour; if you've been there awhile, I heard your max is only $.17 per hour.

    Advice to Management

Need to care more about your people than you do about your products. My immediate zone manager was not very supportive at all. They put way more focus on the fear that products wouldn't be accounted for in inventory than they did on the people working for them.

    Pros

It's a paycheck and if you're fulltime, benefits are available 2 months after your start date. Helping and advising customers is rewarding and fun.

    Cons

Lowe's is the classic bait-and-switch employer ; they describe a job online and during the interview as one thing, and then in reality it's heavily weighted to the opposite. They emphasize that it's At Will Employment, that they can fire you at any time and without notice, and you can quit anytime and without notice. It's in big bold caps on your offer letter. This is a huge red flag - there's a reason for this emphasis. Needless to say, their turnover is horrendous, and strategic, so that benefits don't ever have to be paid. Very few fulltime employees in a store. It's run mostly with temps and part-timers. Training: Superficial, poorly coordinated training. Advice: The best way to work at Lowe's is short time and as a seasonal temp. Don't take this job seriously or as a career.

    Advice to Management

Be honest during the interview process as to what the position entails. This advice goes to HR as well as store management.
