I have been working at Lowe's full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Very positive situation. Anyone with people skills will excel in this business, and you will be noticed quickly.

Cons

Corporate structure is slow-moving. As are any large companies. As long as you can be on time, your life is very easy.

Advice to Management

Communicate with each other.

I have been working at Lowe's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lowe's provides an excellent atmosphere that is fun, safe, and comfortable to work in. I was worried about not knowing where things were when a customer asked, but you can always look to a fellow employee to give you a hand....with anything! If you've never used powered equipment, that will change.

    Cons

If you aren't full time, hours will get cut around Summer time. Having a heavy work-load and having to cover 1 or 2 other departments. When you put on the vest, the customer will assume that you know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING in the store while others will expect you to be in 2 places at once. It may seem tedious at times, but no matter how busy you are, you have to make it a habit to stop and ask EVERY customer (with a smile) if they could use your help for anything.

    Advice to Management

Just remember what it was like when you were entry level. Even if you are a fast learner, you can't get it all figured out in a day...or even a month. Be good to your employees and they will be good to you....at least they should, anyways.

    I worked at Lowe's full-time

    Pros

Corporate Schedule, compensation and benefits package was good, merchandising freedom, ability to make business decisions. Good bonus structure. Ability to hire and truly manage your people.

    Cons

Availability to supervisor and corporate, never off from your personal phone or ipad. Work hours 65 - 70 hours per week. Can be very political. Discriminatory practices depending on your DM and HR manager.

    Advice to Management

A good place to work as long as you don't mind the hours and always being available. Do not always trust your supervisors to stand behind you if the decision could be controversial. Time management of personal and work life needs to be very good, as the demand on a successful store manager is very time consuming.
