    Pros

Lowe's offers decent benefits, if you are able to take advantage of them. There are some great managers at the store level, but there are also some really bad ones. Once in awhile you get the chance to work with truly delightful customers.

    Cons

Store associates work horrible schedules. The computer system is terribly outdated. Training opportunities and vendor support have decreased. Wages have been cut for store associates. HR no longer helps employees with problems and directs them to the web site to find their own answers.

    Advice to Management

North Carolina corporate management should get a heart. All the programs out there 'for the employees' are really just fluff. Looks good to outsiders, but really doesn't help the employees that work in the stores. All the money spent on the 'fluff' could have been spent on a new store computer system that actually works. Treat your store employees with respect and kindness. It might go a long way toward excellent customer service. There's no reason for the horrible scheduling. In short, help your employees be good employees by giving them support and better working conditions. Might just boost your stock prices.

    Pros

Benefits- tuition reimbursement, 10% off all merchandise, ability to get first access to great deals on dead merchandise (i.e.- got a couple of vessel sinks that retail for $400 - $500 a piece, no longer available, paid $40 a piece) Also an easily assimilated business culture. Lowe's is seen as a good company and there is a sense of pride in working there.

    Cons

The company is not employee oriented like it used to. Advancement in the company has drastically changed in the last 5 years. Its not as easy to do so anymore. The company is focusing more on tech-savvy customers and employees so if you are older without a good grasp of modern-day technology, don't bother.

    Advice to Management

If it isn't broken.... please.... stop trying to fix it. Too many programs that have been implemented and then quickly abandoned because you are trying way too hard to build that bridge over the 'sea of sameness'. This negatively affects the morale of employees because they never know from one day to the next what new program they have to 'get used to' or a program that will jeopardize their employment.
