Former Employee - Department Manager of Loss Prevention and Safety in Sonora, CA

I worked at Lowe's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pay is decent comparative to other retailers, Good benefits, Opportunity for advancement within the company, Company is "employee-centric" in that Lowe's seems to focus on striving to keep their employees happy in order to maintain a productive and successful company, Scholarship fund offered to employees, Discounts for some companies granted to employees, Some cutting-edge technology employed, Innovative company that is constantly changing and striving for success

    Cons

Stressful work environment depending on position within store/company, Rotating schedules with only consistency month-month but not week to week, Training for all associates is sub-par and insufficient before they are thrown into the fire, Long hours for any position above Department Manager, antiquated operating system that is not user-friendly utilized for all day-to-day operations, District and Regional Management teams have a tendency to be unnecessarily hard on their stores, Expectations for DMLP position is too great a burden for one person within a store, Personal Development Plans

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to celebrate wins and successes with your associates more consistently, Learn to administer and follow up training to associates more effectively, consistently and efficiently, Senior management (ASMs) need to be more involved and held more accountable for the ownership of their zones and the development of the associates within their respective areas, Upgrade from your current operating system, Restructure PDP's
