I have been working at Lowe's part-time (less than an year)

Pros

401k match you up to 6% then a percentage after. The management team at my store is great .... tons of stores = more advancement opportunities .. we get small bonuses if we make our sales and service quotas .. benefits and stock purchase

Cons

pay raise per year is very low!!.. not sure if I will make it a career I am interested in HR but the HR turn over rate is very high at every store I have been to kind of scares me from taking that path ... also operating system is so old! I understand it would be extremely difficult and expensive to change but at some point I believe it needs to be done

i enjoy my management team at my store

    Pros

    Lowe's has decent benefits and it is better than digging ditches.

    Cons

    The people I work with are mostly "terminal adolescents" that really should be working at K-Mart. They tend to hire managers that are the opposite of dynamic; robots have more personality than most of the ones I met. The biggest knock on Lowe's is their willingness to ignore customer service in favor of other corporate "efficiencies". One being: stores are run on a skeleton crew. A second one is: the POS and other software utilized in the stores are so antiquated, it puts Lowe's at a disadvantage in inventory and associate productivity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Their ability to recognize talent is way overrated and they should take it more seriously. They also lose truly talented, dedicated people because of their unwillingness to compensate them commensurate with their ability to bring sales into the store.
