    I have been working at Lowe's

    Pros

    Lowe's provides a steady job with a reliable paycheck. The benefits are decent and include
    health/dental/vision insurance, paid vacations, 401K and stock purchase plan.

    Cons

    While Lowe's promises growth and advancement opportunities, these "opportunities" are based primarily on favoritism. Most employees receive low wages and no advancement possibilities.
    Raises are just pennies per year and never keep up with the cost of living. The stores are very
    understaffed and associates are required to do more and more--but never compensated for it.
    Most associates work a rotating schedule, meaning you must work any shift, 7 days a week.
    This make it difficult to have any kind of personal life.
    If you can find another place to work--Take it--and stay as far away from Lowe's as you can!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management bonuses at Lowe's are excessive. Management needs to start recognizing the growth and achievement of the hourly employees, and start sharing the success of the company with them.

    Pros

    Decent pay for retail. Friendly upbeat people. benefits after 180 days on the job with employee 10% discount card after orientation.

    Cons

    Beginning to lose customer service excellence in favor of bottom line. Base hours is a thing of the past. Management tries to keep everything positive. Can be difficult to accomplish every goal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please get the vision of being the "customer focused" company back. Each year perks are gradually being worn away. Retain good employees and this will keep the positive cusomer service results coming.
