Pros

Fast moving, dynamic company going through great growth and the challenges thereof. Management embraces technology and has a vision of how technology can support their goals. Great benefits, friendly co-workers and friendly work environment. You get your vacation here, that's rare with growing companies like this.

Cons

Austin location pales in comparison of the amenities and design of their other offices ;) Workout facilities and better break rooms would be icing on the cake.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the communications up, keep your employees interested and aligned!

    Pros

The company is growing and constantly changing which is great to provide opportunities for people that can prove their worth. Great technology.

    Cons

Lack of structure or processes when it comes to marketing of new products.
People that have 'grown up' in the company do not have a global perspective and can get stale in their problem solving approaches.
Constant organizational changes can be unsettling to people that like to feel stability in their job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Diversify! This place is a 'good old boy club'.

    I worked at Luminex full-time

    Pros

This company has the potential to grow and be really successful, and has many people on their team that are doing good and hard work to help build a better company and business. With support from management and strategic planning, Luminex could be very successful and innovative in the biotech industry.

    Cons

Unfortunately, Luminex is in the habit of creating more problems for themselves than necessary. Across the board, it appears that in general management areas (marketing, sales, strategy and execs) is interested in hiring friends and people who will follow routine, rather than individuals capable of improving products, marketing, overall sales, or having positive conversations with customers. While I did not work in product/tech/lab departments, I can attest that middle and upper management in the other areas mentioned is lacking in integrity, and the interest of the customer and success for the company. To summarize: most of management is interested in their own success rather than their company's or employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider where the true problems are coming from within your company: if you are lacking in sales, who is responsible for this? Are there common complaints coming from your general employees or being reported to HR? Are personnel disagreements and egos holding back what could be an innovative and successful company? Luminex is capable of great products and life-saving treatments, but perhaps petty personnel issues are holding you back. Being consistent with hires, fires, and accountability will go a long way in encouraging loyalty to your company and building revenue and success.
