I worked at Luxottica Retail part-time for more than a year

Pros

Part-time pay is decent, bonuses (if your store qualifies for them)/spiffs/insurance program is great, and so are the discounts for eye wear, and during the quarter associate discounts, phenomenal. Easy work, easy selling. Not hard at all.

Cons

These downsides are minor at best, but the biggest one is if you're working inside Macy's department stores...the associates there mostly aren't friendly. And they are always trying to get you to do their work, or sell their products when you don't even work for them.

Other than that, basically you have to stand around a LOT. Lunch breaks could be increased, a run eat and get-back to work approach, and you aren't allowed to do anything else (obviously you can't text in any position, but I'm talking about stuff such as homework, or reading unless it's company material).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be a bit more flexible in the corporate approach; if you know a student has big tests or something, it's okay if he studies during down-time if everything else in the store is finished.

General store managers aren't exactly the most competent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Require your general store managers to take courses in general business and organizational communications, maybe even interpersonal communications.

A sad, slow decline. It didn't have to go that way.

I have been working at Luxottica Retail full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Normal benefits for retail, too much disorganization at the top for anyone to notice what might go on in your region as long as you "play nice" with your boss.

    Cons

Several years ago, it was an unusually great place to work, Good benefits and pay reasonable expectations, many fine bosses and people in upper management. For whatever reason, they eliminated many long-standing people in all management positions, replaced them with hacks from apparel companies who do not understand care about the medical / health aspect of the business. You don't want to buy glasses the same way you buy panties at Victoria's Secret. Very chauvinistic place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dismantle the new "old boy's club." Focus more on doctors and managers in-store. Staff up stores with appropriate staff. Increase pay,
