I have been working at LyondellBasell full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Compensation is decent, lots to learn and experience if you are willing to create such an environment for yourself.

Cons

Leadership has no long term vision and believes in fix it for now approach with its manufacturing assets as well as human assets. That leaves people being considered a replaceable asset. Managment doesn't seem to have clear goals, and there is very little emphasis on creating new or improving work processes. Culture is elitist, meaning its ok and acceptable for a senior person to treat people in a disrespectful manner.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper leadership needs to be shaken up or replaced. The company is not in bankruptsy anymore and should not be run like one. Develop longer term plans with assets as well as people retention.

    Pros

Good challenges to your experience to work on. Lots of opportunities to learn new things.

    Cons

Inadequate resources leads to your team's work being prioritized to daily issues. Long term work needs are 2nd priority. Heavy loss of experienced key company talent. Pay midpoint suffering vs. market post-bankruptcy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Only way to keep top talent is to keep challenging them and pay top quartile of market.

    I worked at LyondellBasell

    Pros

    Amazing bonus structure for industry
New Job everyday - changing priorities by the day
New friends every month- revolving door of talent

    Cons

Leadership acceptance of dishonesty and core values violations by senior leaders
Cost cutting organization, no investment in innovation
Poor IT leadership and leadership team who block and blame (throw under the bus attitude)
Finance leadership does not work well together, flamethrowers and seagull managers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your culture is driven top down. Nothing changes until change comes from the top.
Your company is a reflection of Lencioni's "The Five Disfunctions of Team".
Wipe out your IT leadership team and start anew, you will then witness real change
