Pros

Good business sense. But it won't run when you people leave

Cons

Poor excuse of a CEO. Poor management. Pay and benefits not up to participate with similar companies.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time for talking and fake promises is over. The only home for this company is to go union. You are to greedy and out of control.

I worked at LyondellBasell full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

there are still some talent here that you cannot find elsewhere, so still a good learning base in the beginning. First 3 years is good here, then there are probably better opportunities in terms of career growth and quality work. The trick is to manage your own career and positioning on work and projects. There are alot of opportunities to do this with the current market and project funding going into the company.
Pay is very good. Pension is OK. Bonuses are awesome. The CEO has successfully eliminated 9/80 schedule from some parts of the company, but they gave it back to parts where loss of talent was beyond what they were hoping for. So, ask about alternative work schedule specific to location where you are planning to seek a position.

    Cons

Much of the experienced talent has moved on to other companies where it is more competitive in regard to employee oriented policies. There is lot of work that is really not valued in most other parts of this industry. So try and avoid the 'hype' flavor of the year upper management driven 'initiatives', or you may be 5 years down the road with nothing to talk about in your next interview.
The vision is short ranged depite what is said.
There is strong talk of safety, but some of the actions with contradict ll the way to the top.
Moral is hit or miss, but has definately declined.
The employee retention is very bad, and positions stay open for a while.
The upper management has a bully mentality.
CEO is trying to implement some senior level engineering overseas India.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no possible advice for management. They are smart and know exactly what they are doing.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
