I worked at M.C. Dean, Inc.
Pros – I can only think of one good reason to work for this company and it pertains to the large amount of government work. There never seemed to be a shortage of work.
One time I was offered the chance to work OT from home. I made a few extra bucks.
Cons – "Bait & Switch" recruiting tactics. The ultimate reason for my departure was realizing I didn't get the job I was hired for...because it didn't exist.
Unbelievable disrespect toward employees. Kindergarten-like childish outbursts in the office that had to be witnessed to be believed. Most unprofessional behavior I have ever seen. Management and HR in particular completely out of control. Feel like being berated? Apply now...
No idea how to manage technology. The company would make you jump through fiery hoops to get laptops, phone, etc. so that you could do your work, however, you better believe that the fingerprint scanner at the job site was up and running 100% of the time.
There is an orientation session that lasts a few days that takes place at a nearby hotel. You get paid $12 an hour or something to sit through power points and talk about construction safety. This is relevant for about 50% of the attendees but it does prepare you for the climate of M.C. Dean, which is basically that of a summer camp for unruly children.
Advice to Senior Management – You are an electrical contractor. Stick to being an electrical contractor because you are clueless when it comes to engineering design, project management, or the progressive use of technology.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
