Pros

Great people, good benefits, good culture, strong bank

Cons

Impossible to be a sales person and a credit underwriter. There isn't enough credit support for the front line.

Hire better loan analysts who take initiative and put their name on their work.

I have been working at M&T Bank full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Related to the commercial bank - smart colleagues, challenging work, shareholder and customer focused, good benefits. You can be very successful and have the room to run if you understand the Bank's culture. Understand and embrace the fundamentals of its success and replicate it in your own portfolio and you will be rewarded with lots of opportunity. Exposure to executive management, bank has flat management structure. Many long tenured employees which makes working together on behalf of clients is fairly easy.

    Cons

More diversity needed in executive and senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't foster banking's "old boy's club" reputation.
