    Pros

State benefits are good, teachers retirement, wonderful patients and the best cancer tx anywhere. Reseach is impressive and groundbreaking.

    Cons

Low morale and finger pointing has replaced core values caring, integrity in past few years. Very political. Be careful if you cross the wrong person. People here have long memories and hold bitter grudges. Some senior managers have a different agenda and it is all about what you do that makes them look good. Credit often goes to those who take credit for it and actually did nothing to deserve it. Blaming is often the name of the game. It is a shame.

    Advice to Management

Listen to front line employees and not just the top brass to hear what is really going on. Senior Managers need to work along side their employees some to understand what it really takes to get things done, how hard the work really is and how you expect way too much, way too often. Don't just talk about appreciation. Show it by treating employees better. Look at the great successes of more patients, more money coming in and positive treatement results, instead of reprimanding small errors that amount to a few dollars in comparison - especially when you expect perfection despite ridiculous workloads.

  2. Anderson is an institution with some talented researchers and physicians but plagued by a slow and inept bureaucracy.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Flexible schedules, great diversity of opportunities, decent benefits, equitable and widespread information technology access, great research library, interesting invited speakers.

    Cons

Inconvenient and expensive parking, numerous unprofessional colleagues, unending compliance requirements, crippling bureaucracy, inadequate compensation, cramped working spaces, fractured information technology support.

    Advice to Management

The positive public image Anderson enjoys and the willingness of the scientists and doctors to sacrifice and labor to support this image seems to be counteracted by an ever-growing internal system designed to reduce all players to one (low) common denominator. Too many policies, requirements and administrators work to stifle those most able to contribute.
