Pros

*MEC is one of the most popular Ad Agencies Globally especially domestically in the US as you'll meet great people from all walks of life including Management which is rare in this industry.
*It's a collegial environment which warrants a large appetite for having fun and creating a work life balance.
*Perks is one of the best in my opinion which you'll have anything from free party invites to free breakfast/lunch/dinner also contingent on the account you work on sometimes.
*Very smart & young culture which has a glaring intent to grow young individuals as it seems that they intend to hire people that are typically young and coming out of school.
*Environment is neat which is not the most unique setting but it's young cool look makes it better than most agencies out there.
*Training programs are a must to be promoted which they offer a wide array of opportunities to learn the necessary skills to survive in this ever growing industry.
*In order to work at MEC you HAVE to be self-motivated and willing to make sacrifice as the perks won't come unless your absolutely devoted to the account.
*Middle of all great restaurants in the 50th street area which the agency's favorite spot to eat is Natsumi which you'll hear all the time. :)
*Diversity is unparalleled.
*Team events/Vendor Events such as Beer Pongs etc.
*Large agency that really attracts the top publishers/sales people in the country/worldwide. They'll come to you without any Resistance.

Cons

*Although there is an extended list of great reasons to join/stay @ MEC, there are pitfalls that you may succumb to based on the political environment of this agency.
*Reputation can easily be debilitated if you commit errors (no matter how minor or significant) as you're performance is not only evaluated by your team but outside your team as well which is almost scary that your mishaps might be known amongst 20+ employees.
*Promotion is a word not to fond of @ MEC. They will give you all the tools necessary to develop but they tend to hire from outside as opposed to internally but they do sometimes promote within from other account teams (outside your account) which makes it that much harder to progress.
*A good number of people can be snobbish at times or think their better than everyone else although they have a lower or equal title as you.
*Essentially Pay is lower than usual. It's better to have at least 3 strong years of experience before you join MEC as no matter what team your on as often more times than not they'll over work you as if you're garnering 6 figures. FYI: This may or may not happen but prepare yourself for late hours depending on the account as sometimes you may work until past 9 pm. This is sometimes the cause of turnover rates seen at MEC.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee evaluations is integral to the progression and improvement to any agency. Please take time to listen to the account teams as ultimately they are the working force/brain of the campaign strategy especially on the execution level.

I have been working at MEC Analytical Systems full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people are great and their is a collegiate atmosphere at all levels

I have to say the office politics here aren't bad at all it is much worse at other places

If you take initiative, you really can do some cool stuff here and there

    Blue chip clients

    It wasn't that challenging

    Cons

    Bush league

    Losing those blue chip clients

I have met some great people there, but I also met some embarrassingly awful people too. Stop hiring people who can barely do their job. They make everyone look bad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire better people and promote based on skill. There are good people here and many are in leadership positions, but for some reason few teach their people anything... they're just a boss. I get it, you got media school and those 360 evals, but you need to give kids a chances to think independently and reward them for it. Also, stop hiring idiots and people who don't deserve their titles. They aren't the majority, but a few bad apple ruin the bunch.

I worked at MEC Analytical Systems

    Pros

Great perks! Free clothes, movie tickets, concerts/sports, meet celebrities, etc. You will eat at every amazing restaurant/bar for free...and you'll have all the hottest invites to media's biggest parties throughout the year!

    Cons

Stay till 10pm every night with horrible pay, no over-time. Upper employees do not communicate clearly with lower level; makes for confusion, struggling, and very-late nights. Employees are often worked into the ground and do not feel appreciated for it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay people over-time in order for them to give their blood to their clients. It's not worth the pay off.
